I am endeavoring to trace the above named person - would like to make contact with descendants. Perhaps we can fill in gaps in family information for one another.
Gene Madeline is the daughter of Curtis Eugene 'Gene' Darby and Edith Galbraith Darby. Gene (the daughter) was born in 9-1919 in OK. The family is found on the 1920 census in MO. Curtis Darby was a vaudeville performer and moved around often between Oklahoma, KS, MO finally lmoving to CA probably circa 1920. He died in Los Angeles in 1937.
On the 1930 census, Edith has divorced Curtis and married to a Chester D. Henderson. Chester, Edith, and the step-daughter (Gene Madeline Marylin Darby) are on the Franklin Co., OH census in 1930. Curtis Darby is on the 1930 census in Los Angeles, CA.
Chester D. Henderson, died in 11-1954 in San Antonino, TX. They had moved there only 5 months before from Franklin Co., OH. His obit lists survivors, as his wife and his mother-in-law (Amy Galbraith) - no step-daughter. Edith Mae Henderson died 9-20-1984 in Bexar,TX. The obit of Edith Mae (mother to Gene Mdeline) does not list any children as survivors. but it does say she was a resident of Mesa, AZ even though she died in TX.
My endeavor is to determine what became of Gene Madeline Marylin Mickey Darby.Since she is not listed in her mother's obit, I am inclined to think she (1) died before her mother or (2) was estranged from her mother.
I am posting to this forum on the off chance Gene Madeline Darby may have lived in Kay County as her grandfather William Curtis Darby lived in Kaw City at one time and is buried there.
