From the "Stillwater News-Press" newspaper, Stillwater, OK, Sunday, October 6, 1968, page 2, col. 8-- "Friday Services Held In Cushing For Mrs. Myrick Funeral services were held Friday for Mrs. Mary F. Myrick, 80, of Cushing, who died Oct. 2, 1968. The Davis Funeral home in Cushing handled arrangements with interment in Cushing's Fairlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Myrick, who was born in Sligo, Mo., on April 21, 1888, married William H. Myrick in Stillwater, on April 8, 1908. The couple moved to Cushing in 1916. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1948. Survivors include four daughters, three sons, three sisters and 35 grandchildren." From the "Stillwater Gazette" newspaper, Stillwater, OK, April 18, 1930, page 8, col. 3-- "Mrs. Sarah Neoma De Merritt Mrs. Sarah Neoma De Merritt, 74, died Thursday morning, April 10, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.A. Palmer, 410 Maple avenue, Stillwater, Ok., after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at the Strode Funeral home, the Rev. Virgil G. Nalley officiating. Burial was in Fairlawn cemetery. [Stillwater} Sarah Neoma Rodgers was born in Putnam county, Indiana, April 11, 1855. She married George De Merritt December 2, 1882, in Topeka, Kan. The family moved to Stillwater in 1900 from Hoyt, Kan. The decedent is survived by seven children, twenty-seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Palmer, Stillwater; Mrs. William Bartholomew, Ponca City; Mrs. E.T. Hamilton, Cushing; Mrs. William H. Myrick, Cushing; Fred De Merritt, Orlando, Fla.; Claude De Merritt, Blackwell, and Clyde E. De Merritt, Redondo Beach, Calif." The obituary for George De Merritt listed "step-son" William H. Myrick. From Mahlon Erickson's "Obituaries From the Stillwater Gazette 1892-1901", page 33, "11 APR p1 c2 ROGERS,m Sanford born 1 Nov 1812 in Shelby County KY. Married to Rachel White 25 Dec 1833. Moved to IN 1839, in Hendricks county 1871. Laer to Pottawatomie County KS. Had 5 boys and 5 girls, 5 are living: T. H. Rogers of Brazeil IN, Elias Rogers of Day OK, Mrs. George Demerritt of Stillwater OK, Mrs. Hattie Thompson of Chicago IL, and H.S. Rogers of Ceres OK. Also leaves one brother E.F. Rogers and one sister Mrs. Betty Curtis both of Kansas City MO. Services at the U.B. Church in Stillwater 6 Apr 1901 with burial in Fairlawn Cemetery." Notify Administrator about this message?
