From the "Stillwater News-Press" newspaper, Stillwater, OK, December 17, 1992-- "Vivian Maxey Vivian Maxey, formerly of Perkins, died in her home in Belton, Texas, Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1992, at the age of 87. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at the First Christian Church of Perkins with the Rev. Jeff Gill officiating. Interment will be in the Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Mrs. Maxey was born in Bowie, Texas, Jan. 17, 1905, to Hiram Cockrell and Mary Emma (Neece) Rice. She received her education in Montague County, Texas. She married Sherman Howard in 1921 in Montague, and after his death she married William Maxey in 1934 in Elk City. She moved to Perkins in 1974 and then to Texas earier this year to be near her daughter. Mrs. Maxey was a homemaker and a sales clerk and was a member of the First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three brothers and both husbands. Suvivors include one daughter, Melba Kattner of Salado, Texas; two brothers, Dr. Hillery Rice of Anderson, Ind., and Dr. Hershell Rice of Pomona, Calif.; one sister, Velma Litterell of St. San Pablo, Calif.; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren."
