Absalom served in the Civil War (Union)in both the Infantry and Cavalry. He died in Service in 1865 at Memphis, Tennessee leaving his children orphans. His wife Cynthia Colinger Liles had died in 1863 and is buried in Newton County, Arkansas. Son John W Liles lived out the remainder of his life in Newton County, Arkansas. Joseph Liles moved to Wagoner County, Oklahoma. Nancy E Liles Pack Thompson lived in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma.
The rest of the children were scattered out, some ending in California.
