Per an unverified source, I have been told that George Prentiss HARDING died 05 Sep 1953 in Tulsa Co OK.

Because I can't find his family in any state in 1910 and Oklahoma is so strict about their birth and death records, an obituary is probably the only way I can get some facts
to work with.........especially any surviving kinfolk.

His father was Clyde H. HARDING who 1m Ella [CHALK] about 1899. The 1900 Osage Nation, OK Territory census shows them living with her father and siblings, married 1 year and had no children.

However, in 1910 there is a child "Orval CHALK age 08 born OK and both parents born in TX" listed as the grandson of John Whitfield CHALK, Ella's father. I am convinced that Orval's last was actually HARDING and that he was Ella and Clyde's son.

1910 Creek Co OK/Kellyville/HH 165-170/pg 80b (12 May 1910)
CHALK, John W /HH/wm age 60 TX/Tx/Tx + widow
CHALK, Willie /son/wm age 31 TX/Tx/Tx + single
Chalk, Marie /dtr/wf age 25 TX/Tx/Tx + single
Chalk, Orval /G-son/wm age 08 OK/Tx/Tx <<<<<

I have searched the 1910 census index in every state and every way I can think of but I cannot find Clyde and/or his family. This census is so critical because I am feel certain Ella had died and that Clyde married "Eva" abt 1904, but I have nothing to prove it.

On Clyde's WWI draft registration 12 Sep 1918 Osage Co OK, he names Eva as his wife and per the 1920 census there were 4 children born between 1905 and 1917 and their mother's birthplace is Missouri - the same as Eva's.

1920 Osage Co OK/Black Dog/HH 147-160/pg 104b (23 Feb 1930)
HARDING, Clyde A /HH/wm age 44 TX/Ky/Ky
Harding, Eva /wife/wf age 40 MO/Mo/Mo
Harding, Garnett /son/wm age 14 OK/Tx/Mo
Harding, Prentiss /son/wm age 12 AZ/Tx/Mo
Harding, May /dtr/wf age 07 NM/Tx/Mo
Harding, J C /son/wm age 03 Ok/Tx/Mo

By 1930, Clyde had died and widowed Eva was raising these 4 children: they are listed as her children and again their mother's place of birth is Missouri.

1930 Osage Co OK/Black Dog/HH 113-114/pg 130a (09 Apr 1930)
HARDING, Eva /HH/wf age 49 MO/Mo/Mo + widow
Harding, Garnett /son/wm age 24 OK/Tx/Mo + single
Harding, Prentiss /son/wm age 18 AZ/Tx/Mo + single
Harding, May /dtr/wf age 17 NM/Tx/Mo + single
Harding, J C /son/wm age 13 OK/Tx/Mo

George Prentiss was the first of the 4 children in question to die and that is why my hopes are hanging on what his obituary might say......
If anyone can tell me who to contact about obtaining this obituary, I will be so grateful.
My heartfelt thanks,
Kathye
