Getting two DNA submissions to test relationship of GA and VA Olliff lines
For many years, a lot of researchers have attempted to connect the two major Olliff lines found in the United States which include over 80 % of everyone that has the surname Olliff or Oliff. It is believed that the GA line had ties back to NC and therefore older ties to VA would be a reasonable migration pattern. Additionally, the Jackson famliy that married into the GA Olliff line were from the same area where the VA Olliffs resided.
We need two volunteers to submit 37 marker DNA Tests via Family Tree DNA.One submission must be an Olliff with well documented pedigree back to at least the late 1700s.The GA Olliff line needs to be a line that is included at my web site (http://www.rcasey.net).If these two submissions are only a few markers apart, then it show proof that these lines are indeed related. If they have very different DNA, this would discount any connection.
Both submissions must not include any adoptions and have well documented male pedigree. Also, only men born with the surname of Olliff can participate in the actual submission of the DNA swab.If interested, send me an email and I will assist with coordination of this project.I published a 400 page book, "Olliff Family History" in 1992 and included some material on the VA Olliff line in hopes of connecting these two lines.
