Hi Randie
My posst has been sitting there for quite some time. I thought the Omans had died out. They certainly have in my line.
I have only been able to go as far back as Donald Oman m Janet Campbell probably in Halkirk, Caithness c 1789/90.

As you can see the name died out when Jemima married my g father David Young in 1899.
George Oman was a professional photographer in Edinburgh & Hawick and appears on edinphoto.org.uk
We have been in touch a year or so ago but I don't think there was a direct link at the Donald Oman level, possibly a generation or two back.
Thanks for getting in touch
Russell
