Hola;
The O'Neills from Puerto Rico are descendants of two brothers that were fom Ireland. They had an uncle [probably named Félix]who left some properties in Puerto Rico to them after his death. They spent almost 4 years at the Danish island of Santa Cruz [St.Croix one of the US Virgin Islands today].These broders were Don Julio and Don Enrique O'Neill de Tyrone O'Kelly, who were the sons of Don Henry O'Neill de Tyron and Doña Hanna O'Kelly.They had other brothers named Don Arturo, Don Nicolás y Doña Ana casada con el Conde de Berhaven.
Don Arturo was the 1st Marqués del Norte,y era Conde de Tyrone. He also reached the rank of General in the spanish army,Was Governor of Pensacola [then Florida was a Spanish territory]and Yucatán,México. D.Arturo was born in Dublin, Ireland on January 8,1736 and died 9 December 1814 at Madrid, Spain.
The O'Neill brothers came to Puerto Rico about 1779.
There is another O'Neill that came to PR named Don Bernardo O'Neill MacKen, who died in the town of Fajardo. In his Testamento {will] dated 6.25.1852 he declares is single, with no children, and his only heredera was his sister Da. Anna Married to D. Edward Smyth.Parents: D.Hugh O'Neill and Da. Helena MacKen from Grenard,Longford Co., Ireland.
Hope this helps.
