Practice with FTM to become knowledgable. Open your FTM file.

Create a directory structure to save and find your files easily.

\Family Tree Data Files
\Family Tree Data Files\Jones
\Family Tree Data Files\Jones\jones.sam.1865.tennessee.ftm

\Family Tree Data Files
\Family Tree Data Files\Smith
\Family Tree Data Files\Smith\smith.sarah.1925.texas.ftm

Export entire file to a new file named, '1practice1.ftm'

Export entire file to a new file named, '2practice2.ftm'

Merge files, '1practice1.ftm' and '2practice2.ftm'

Export entire file to a lower # version, i.e, Vs 16 to Vs 5.

Export entire file to a 'GEDCOM' version

Hope this helps,
