With the information from the DC you should be able to contact the funeral home and they might have information on his marriages, ie Freda and Annie.
Try emailing the archives first.
You can post on the forums for a lookup...Salem is in Marion Co., and although you looking for a death record in Clatsop Co., someone from Marion Co. may go to the archives for you if you explain your situation.
Were you aware that there is also a coroner's report for his death?

The records document the results of the examination of a corpse by the county coroner at the request of the county sheriff.
