From the Salem (Oregon) Capital Journal, 24 June 1946, page 9, column 8: "Salem Man Killed When Hit By Auto John Rex Pawley, 41, Salem route 1, was killed about 2 a.m. Sunday in West Salem when struck by an automobile driven by Joseph E. Lelack, Dallas, who was brought to the hospital here for treatment of shock. Pawley is reported to have left a restaurant and was crossing the Salem-Dallas highway to his parked automobile when the accident occurred. He is survived by his widow and five children. He was born in Moundsville, Mo., September 18, 1904. An inquest will not be held, according to Paul Bollman, Dallas, deputy Polk coroner, who investigated the accident." Essentially the same story was printed in the Polk County Itemizer-Observer, Dallas, Oregon, 27 June 1946, page 1, column 5. Notify Administrator about this message?
