From the Salem (Oregon) Statesman Journal, 15 October 1995, page 4B, column 2: "Ethel May Pawley May 28, 1909 -- Oct. 12, 1995 Ethel Pawley, 86, of Salem died Thursday. An Arizona native, she moved to the Salem area in 1944 and worked for the Oregon State Hospital for six and a half years. She was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church and a 40-year member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and sewing. Her husband, John, died in 1946. Survivors include her daughters, LouAnn Amburgey of Salem, Connie McCroskey of Camano Island, Wash., and Ginger Hetland of Keizer; son Stanley Pawley of Huntsville, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visiting will be from noon to 5 p.m. Monday in Ridgon-Ransom mortuary. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the mortuary.
