First, here is what I wrote to a forum in reply to a very nice lady who answered my post August 7, 2007 query on Paulina Esch Hostetler in the Esch forum.
I have done a chart and I now suspect that her Paulina Esch Hostetler is not a direct relative.......her husband may be, though, a cousin of my husband's great grandfather, Harry Truitt whose mother was Paulina J. Hostetler Truitt.......
She found that Paulina Esch (Eash) married George Hostetler. I have found that both of them were born in the same generational level as my husband's great grandfather, Harrison Truitt whose parents were in Healdsburg as she said to me (I believe his parents were, indeed, James H. Smith Truitt and Paulina J. Hostetler and in fact the family was in Healdsburg for years and is in their history museum).
'Our' Paulina J. Hostetler was born in the generational level of Paulina Esch Hostetler's mother and father. So....my guess is that, maybe, Paulina Esch's husband, George could have been a child of a brother of Paulina J. Hostetler , making Harrison and George, possible cousins. From what she sent me, I, now, doubt that we have 'Esch' in our family line.
I am posting this to ask if anyone knows a line where there was a Paulina J. Hostetler or Hostetter (born in 1819 in MO) had a brother who had a son, George Hostetter (he was born in Indiana in 1857 and died in Oregon in 1943)????
If I could prove who her George Hostetter's parents and grandparents were, I could connect 'our' Pauline Hostetler Truitt to those grandparents I would know for sure that George and my husbands, Great grandfather were cousins and more than that, I would have some info on the Hostetler line.......Gary's grandfather thought there was a connection in the family to the Hostetler/Bitter's fame whatever that is......it was just a sentence he wrote in a letter to me.....I haven't pursued that lead, yet......
