HI Cindy, I don't think Oregon required death certs until 1903.
I found Gage S Spring in 1900 living in Fairlaw, Yamhill Co. Gage, b. May 1834, NY, marr 38 yrs; Mariette, wife, b. OH, Dec 1844 had given birth to 1 child who was still alive in 1900.
