Hi, I went to the Stafford Town Hall on my way home from the doctor's today. I went twice through every old record book they have and neither Philena's nor Dwight's family is mentioned. Her birth is not recorded in Stafford only their marriage on July 31, 1843 as recorded by Town Clerk G.H.Woodward. Their marriage is also recorded in the Records of the First Congregational Church of Stafford on page 91 as Mr. Slate and Miss Philena H. Orcutt married July 1843. I also serched the old town record books for any mention of their familes coming into town but no luck. In the 1880 Census they are both 64 years old, he was born in MA and she was born in CT. He was a machinist. There were many branches of this Orcutt family. My branch is in Maine, another branch left Stafford and went to Vermont and still others are in Somers, Willington, Woodstock, Mansfield, etc. in CT. I await your data you said you would scan to me to see if it will help any. Sorry I struck out in Stafford. Of course you also have the original Orcutts from Massachusetts. Susan
