Hi Andrea

There were actually three different people named Aaron Sleigh, father, son and grandson. The first was born in Brinkworth, Wiltshire, about 1809 and married Vashti Sage in 1837 in Dunkerton, Somerset. They had seven children. The second Aaron, one of their sons, was born in Camerton, Somerset on April 8 1842, came to Nova Scotia as a soldier with the 61st Regiment of Foot (now known as a Gloucestershire regiment) and married Sarah Elizabeth Byers (or Bayers)in Halifax on Nov 28 1871. They had twelve children including the third Aaron who was born in Carbonado, Washington State in 1888. I have quite a lot of information about them, including pictures, and the mystery photographs I was trying to ID through my original post on this list are indeed Vashti Sleigh and her children - I have located a distant cousin who has identified them for me. There are several people doing research on our branch of the Sleigh family and you'll find some good detailed information on RootsWeb - use 'Aaron Sleigh' as your search term and you'll find all three Aarons and several earlier generations of Sleighs and Sages as well. I'd be interested in knowing where you fit into the family tree. If I can help you with your research just let me know.
