Circa 1900 photo of Ella Orcutt
Posted by: Paul Peterson (ID *****2235) Date: October 21, 2009 at 12:01:16

I purchased the subject undated studio portrait of a young woman taken by Snook & Kilmer, Akron, OH. It is identified on the back of the mount in period handwriting:

"Ella Orcutt"

Below this, in more recent handwriting, are the words:

"a daughter of
one of George's brothers"

After studying records posted on ancestry.com, as well as other related Orcutt photos, I conclude that the only likely candidate for this subject is Almira E. (Ella?) Orcutt, born about 1877 in OH, the daughter of Chester Orcutt, born about 1839 in OH. She is listed in the 1880 Census data for Copley Township, Summit Co., OH. She is probably the same person as the Mira E. Orcutt listed in the 1910 Census data for Sharon, Medina Co., OH, at which time she was a single 33-yr-old nurse boarding with the Robinson family on Smith Road.
