I am the great-granddaughter of DAVID O'SULLIVAN. DAVID, as to what i was told by older relatives Orginally came from NYACK, NY he married a African American woamn named Mary Freeman, they moved from Nyack in the 1900's toward Paterson, NJ then from there to West Orange, NJ then finally to Orange , NJ where they had two daughters named Margaret and Ethel and a son named Clifford. David removed the "O" from his name and just used SULLIVAN. My grandmother was Margaret. Margaret married John Toliver and Ethel Married Leonard Johnson both men were African American. I grew up with very light skin and very straight hair, I always would ask my mother(Margaret's daughter) WHY AM I SO LIGHT & WHY IS MY HAIR SO DIFFERENT? I would never get the corret answer, it was like it was a secret, I guess back then it was. I always thought my family orginated from the south, but I was told we migrated from NYACK, NY and that the women married southern men. I was looking to find out if anyone from then remember any O"SULLIVANS from that area, perhaps they could be relatives that I have longed to find. I just want to know my history and I have my own family now and they ask questions that I want to give them answers to and not be like my past parents and relatives, who were very closed mouth about the migrating of the races. This is AMERICA, WE ALL HAVE A MIXTURE OF ONE THING OR ANOTHER WITHIN US!!
GOD BLESS!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME! :)
