Alexander Martin Sullivan, Journalist, Orator and Parliamentarian was born in Bantry, Co. Cork 1830, died 17 Oct 1884. He was editor of "The Nation" and coined the term "Home Rule" in 1860 -Source: T. M. Healy by Frank Callanan

His father's name was Daniel Sullivan.

Apart from Timothy Daniel Sullivan, other siblings were:
* Donal Sullivan, M. P. (Westmeath South 1885 - 1907)
* Denis Baylor Sullivan, Journalist
* Mr. ? Sullivan

Alexander Martin Sullivan's children were:
* Annie Sullivan who married Maurice Healy (brother of Timothy Michael "Tim" Healy - the 1st Governor General of Ireland)
* Alexander Martin Sullivan, born 1871, Barrister, Journalist who married Helen Keiley in 1900 (Who's Who). He wrote for The Nation, Weekly News, and Evening Press, contributor to various periodicals.

Note: The Healy's and the Sullivan's have the most intertwined family that it is possible to imagine. Tim Healy (see above) also married a Sullivan - Erina Catherine Mary Sullivan daughter of Timothy Daniel Sullivan
and their daughter Maev Healy married her uncle Timothy Sullivan b. 1874 son of Timothy Daniel Sullivan!
