My great grandfather, Mariano Ferreras y Boladeres, a Catalonian who settled in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 1860, was married three times always surviving his wives. You might be interested in perusing this list of name that resulted from his three marriages.
Wifes #1 Valentina del Carmen Pagan Zapata (D. 1889)
Children:Mariano Absalon (b. 3/2/1872-1/2/1907),
Joaquin Emeterio (b. 2/20/1874 d. 3/12/1907),
Luis Rafael (b 10/29/1879 d 3/22/1927 in NYC),
Eusebio Felipe (b.5/26/1882),
Angel Maria (b 10/02/1884 d. 4/27/1920 in Habana during the deadly flu epidemic tha wrapped the world, y
Jacobo Ferreras Pagan ( b. 11/23/1886 d. 1955 in San Juan, PR.
All had been born and baptized in Mayaguez.
Mariano Absalon moved to New Orleans. Nothing is known about him but that he died January 2, 1909 in that state.
Joaquin Emeterio married Emilia Fortuno y Larroche with whom he had three son, Luis (b1901) Rafael (b 1909) and Jose (b 1910)and possibly a girl named Maria (?). The 1920 census shows a grand-daughter by the name of Carmen Ferreras y Acevedo born from Carmen Acevedo y Rodriguez and Joaquin, the oldest child of Emilia and Joaquin.
Joaquin Emeterio died young while in his 30's.
Luis Rafael marrried Josefa Bermudez Valle with whom he had three children, Luis Ferreras Bermudez (b 1901, Rafael Ferreras Bermudez B(1909) and Jose Ferreras Bermudez (b.1910).
Angel Maria (my grandfather) married Maria Cleofe (Marietta) Echavarrias. THey had one child, my mother
Carmen Ferreras Echavarrias who married Vinicio Otero Lima of the Humacao Oteros.
There were 3 girls from this marriage, Carmen (now in NYC) Sandra, living in Florida and Sylvia, living in Puerto Rico.
Jacobo married his brother Angle, a very young widow and had several children, Olga, Lydia, Milagros, Hector y Raul.
