Don't know if this will help.. I've been working on the murder of Manuel B. Otero, killed by James Greenwood Whitney in the summer of 1883 in New Mexico. Manuel's wife was Dolores Chaves Otero, daughter of Don Francisco Xavier Chaves, and sister of Don Felipe Chaves of Belen, N.M. (there seems to be a discussion in N.M., whether it should be Chaves, or Chavez)
Manuel B. Otero had an uncle named Miguel Antonio Otero (1829-1882) whose father was Don Vicente Otero of Valencia, N.M. and his mother was Dona Getrudesa Chaves y Aragon.
Obviously my reseach is directed differently from yours, but I remember coming across the name of and uncle Don Antonio Jose Otero, appointed Chief Justice of the New Mexico Crown Court in 1846 by Gen Stephen Kearney.
Miguel Antonio Otero (1829-1882) had two sons;
1.) Page Blackwood Otero (born about 1850) and came to Los Angles California about 1910.. had a son Page B. Otero Jr, born about 1900... and possibly another son named Francisco R, Otero, born about 1891, also on the Los Angeles census. Also there was a William Otero in LA on the census.
2.) Miguel Antonio Otero II, (1859-1944) born in St Louis Missouri.. Author of "My Life on the Frontier, 1864-1882".. Governor of New Mexico Territory in 1897-1906, knew Billy the Kid, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid... .. You can get a copy from Amazon.com... good source.
