Hello All:
I am trying to help a friend find information regarding her grandmother,Sofia Maria Garcia Peralta.
Sofia Maria Garcia Peralta was born about 19-December,1895 or 1896 at Peralta-Valencia County,New Mexico.
She was daughter of Juan Peralta and Faustina Garcia.
Juan Peralta was son of Bartolo Peralta and Maria Otero.
Sofia Maria Garcia Peralta attended a convent school in Bernalillo,New Mexico.
The family may have been of Native American extraction.
Family legend has it that the family could see the Apaches riding near their ranch,but were not bothered becaust they were Apache themselves.
Another family legend has it that Sofia Maria Garcia Peralta was an aunt of Geronimo.
