Anton Otremba, came from Danzig 1860's
Anton Otremba was from a very large family living in and near Danzig, Poland, Prussia, Germany...depending on who was in power at the time. He was born about 1850-60 and left there as a very young man to come to America. Family story is that there were two or three brothers left the same time but I haven't found any proof. He went to Texas and was a cowboy on a large ranch there. His sister Veronica who was about 21 at the time came also to America afew years later and found him in Texas. She had come as an indentured servant and when her brother and his new found friend Wilhelm (William) Porsch decided to go to California to pick up gold nuggets on the streets of San Francisco, she left her indenturing family and went with them. They made a stop in Colorado for a short time and then went on to San Francisco. Veronica and William Porsch were married somewhere along this trip. Finding no gold nuggets in San Francisco they then heard there were still wild indians in Washington State so they took a ship (just Anton and William) to Seattle and then went by train to Roy, WA where they homesteaded two 40 acre plots and built cabins. Then sent for their wives and Anton's children. They all lived the rest of their lives in Roy, Pierce Co., WA.
