I began research on my husband's line, Otts of Lamar Co., AL some time back, then got sidetracked. Some was from census records, some from Lamar Co. marriage records, some from my mother-in-law and her sister. I don't have anything on Marcus McDaniel Otts nor his father Samuel M., but they are probably connected.

I show Michael Otts b ca 1804 m Elizabeth Aaron. Their children were Elijah B., Mary Ann m Mr. Moore, Caroline m Mr. Riggs, unknown child maybe d young, Nancy, Phillip, William, Martha, Marion, Elizabeth m Mr. Moore and Martin E.

Michael Otts' probable (but not proven by me) brother was William J. Otts b ca 1803-1806 NC m Unknown. Children: Jane, Mary, Newton d Civil War m Caharizade, Malisa, Jasper b ca 1836 AL m Eleander Delphia Casey (my husband's line), Michael b ca 1837, Jane b ca 1838, Frances b ca 1841, Sarah F. b ca 1843, Rebekah b ca 1844, Lewis b ca 1846, Monica b ca 1848.
