I have reason to believe that the Ott branch I am part of came from Kandel or Oberkandel, Prussia in 1730 or 1735 through Philadelphia, to Maryland, to Virginia, to Preble County, Ohio and then the Noble County Indiana. Kandel is located near Karlsrue near the black forest. It is near the Rhine so that was probably the route to Rotterdam and, thence, to Philadelphia. Thins were real rough then because of the French occupation and the Roman Church. They were Lutherns and remained that way until they went to Ohio nad Indiana.
