Since my last followup, have been in touch with long lost kin.
Apparently mygreatgrandfather:
Henry August Ott born 1/5/1844 married
Amelia (Beier) Ott, born 3/27/1851
they immigrated from Thorn, Germany before 11/1887 arriving in America in Castle Gardens, NJ with five children, a daughter, Martha died in Germany before their immigration. Have copy of old map and it looks like Thorn is now in the country of Poland.
