Ott DNA testing
If any male Ott is interested in using genetic genealogy to prove (or discover) his ancestry, Family Tree DNA has a discount right now on Y-chromosome tests. These follow the male line, so you would have to be a male with the surname Ott.The sale is only to the end of the month, i.e. just over a day to go.
To get the discount you have to join a research group. There is currently no group for OTT, but there is one for the OTTS name that includes OTT as a variant. If we get enough OTT (and if we prove through DNA that we aren't related to OTTS) then we can ask for our own group.
To join the Otts group go here:
http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Ottshttp://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Otts
You can see the various discounted prices there. The most useful tests for our purposes would be Y-DNA37 and Y-DNA67.(Testing more markers gives us more accurate results; anything less than 37 markers is, in my opinion, a waste of money.)
Any questions about this, ask me.
