Thank you. May is definitely Fred's mother-in-law. I hadn't thought that what almost everyone has seen as an S is actually an L but looking at other names of families on the page who I actually know, it could well be. I think another trip to the cemetery is in order. I spent several hours there on very hot Iowa day and couldn't find May. Fred's headstone definitely lists him as G.F. though.
