Ehlers and Ott, Funeral Directors
Posted by: Cora Ott Date: March 13, 1998 at 11:37:17

In the early 1870šs in the Allegheny Cemetery Records, the name of Ehlers and Ott as Funeral Directors appeared rather frequently. Since Allegheny Cemetery served largely Allegheny City and North Side, I
suppose they might have been in that vicinity. One of the last entries I saw with that name was for the death of Herman P. Ehlers, a white male, 41 years, 5 mos. old. He was a married saloon keeper who d. March 10, 1876 of consumption. He had been born in Germany, and lived at 43 Main St., Allegheny City, Pa. His original interment had been at Spring Hill? and the undertaker was Ehlers and Ott.
Then by 1877, the name of the funeral director has changed to Ehlers and Herman, and the Ott is gone. Gone where????? no clue.
