My great grandfather was Anton Ott. He is believed to be from Alsace-Loraine where his name might have been DeOtto.
He was born around 1831 and came to the US around 1852 and settled in the Clarks Mills area of Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
He was a cooper by trade and is believed to have operated a tavern. He married Margaretha Kneir and the had six or seven children. She died and he married Mary Buckley and six or seven more children.
My grandmother was Theresa Lou Ott and she left home at an early age and she eventually moved to Washington, D.C. where she married my grandfather
Edward R Moeller.
I am searching for information about him and the Kneir family. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.
