I believe that Gottlieb Otto of Watertown, WI could be my great, great, great grandfather.
He was married to a Louisa.
He voluntereed for the Civil War at Watertown, WI on July 9, 1862 in Company "K", 20th Infantry. Mustered out on July 14, 1865 in Galveston, TX. He was wounded at Prairie Grove.
My great, great grandfather is Gottlieb Otto of Mequon, WI.
Born May 19, 1840 and died February 19, 1918. He is buried in the same grave as his wife, Margaretha Louise Caroline Lederer-Otto.
They were farmers in Mequon, WI.
They had 5 children.
1) Anna Otto-Laun -my great grandmother born May 3, 1884.
2) George Otto
3) John Otto
4) Caroline Otto-Vick
5) Helena Magdaline Otto-Reppin
Gottlieb had a brother named Henry who joined the Civil War on the same day from Mequon, WI, as Gottlieb did. Theyserved in Company E, 52nd Infantry.
I believe that they had other brothers who served in the Civil War.
The Otto's were scattered all over Wisconsin.
Sure would love to meet more of my Otto family.
I think we would recognize the family resembelence as the Otto's have strong features.
Hope this helps.
