Hello,
I believe my Great-grandfather is listed on the 1870 census at the Western Pennsylvania Penitentiary........the question I have is why every person listed there also has their occupation listed....and EVERYONE has an occupation listed. Was there a sort of paupers prison? How would I find out why he was there?
Any information would be very appreciated.
