You could try to get his military service records from the National Archives in Washington, DC. But be warned unless you go there in person to look at the records it could take some time to get a copy of his service record. However, his record could have something about his parents and you might find other tidbits about him fascinating.
You could also try to get his obituary which may or may not have anything about his parents or siblings. Also try to get his death certificate from the PA Div. of Vital Records. Since you are a direct descendant you shouldn't have too much trouble getting it but it will cost $9 and take at least a month. The problem is that the info on it is only as good as what the informant knew.
His marriage record may also have his parents' names.
