I am not familiar with Irish neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. Have you checked the 1850 - 1860 census records? The Catholic records are with the Diocese. It has been years since I have sent a request. They will search the records for a fee. What I received was a typed (it's been that long) letter with birth, marriages and death info. In some cases it listed parents and towns in Germany where my family originated.
Diocese of Pittsburgh Archives & Records Center (Synod Hall, 125 N. Craig St., Pittsburgh, PA 15213, 412-621-6217, archives@diopitt.org) the records can be researched by the diocese on an unrestricted basis for records more than 100 years old and with varying degrees of restriction for newer records.
The web site has the forms and information.

Hope this helps.
