Early records provide very few details but it is likely that the John Reddick listed in Buffalo Twp, Armstrong County, PA is the father of your Jesse. 1820 Census for this area produces only one Reddick family in Buffalo Twp. This would be the birth year for your Jesse and it appears he is recorded with the family of 3 males and 1 female (father, 2 sons and their mother). This also allows for your Jesse to have an older brother. Found no listing for this family in 1830 Listed in the 1840 Census is John Reddick (age between 60-70) and his wife (same age group) with 3 older children_ a son in the exact age group for your Jesse (about 20) and also 2 daughters_ one between 10-15 and the other 15-20. Guessing that the eldest son is no longer living at home. 1850 Census for S. Buffalo Twp shows that John Reddick is a 74 y/o clergyman and was born in PA. John's wife is Elizabeth and she is 61, also born in PA. Living at home is a daughter, Mary E 21 y/o. James Matthews age 13 also lives with them. It appears your Jesse's older brother James (age 32) lives nearby with his wife Elizabeth, age 28_ no children are listed. Needs further investigation but there is a possibility that you may find that John's wife Elizabeth (most likely your Jesse's mother) is a daughter of Samuel Giles of Mt. Pleasant, or Henry Giles of East Huntingdon, both located in Westmoreland County. Did not find the Giles family in the early records of Armstrong or Butler Counties. Best I can do_ Good Luck in your search. Notify Administrator about this message?
