Susan,
There's gotta be someone who remembers more than my husband, but I'll give ya what he gave me. The ice house was a gray block building. It was right near the creek that always ran with three or four feet of water. The ice house folks would cut ice into blocks (in winter of course) from the creek and store it to sell in their ice house. The building was at the bottom of the hill from the Garrets Run School, in Manor Township in the 1950's and now, where my husband went to school. He remembers going down the hill from the school and passed the ice house about 75 feet to the gas station. He remembers going there. He remembers buying popcicles for a three cents. Ice cream sundaes were about the size of a pint of ice cream today, for a dime. He doesn't remember anything else right now.
