Hello Matt_

Strong possibility that the founding fathers of your MYERS family are brothers William, Jacob and Samuel Myers of 1840 Manor Twp., Armstrong County living next to each other. Altho I cannot confirm his name in the 1840 record, the progenitor of this family lives with son, Samuel who is married but has no children at this time. Jacob is also married and has no children. There are also 3 other Myers families in the area within a short distance of each other which also belong to the Myers-Patton grouping. A search can be made of Monroe, Madison, Toby and Sugar Creek townships in the early years. Toby and Madison will later become part of Clarion County and all will have different orientations and boundaries.

These families have been long established in Armstrong County and their records may lead to clues for your own branch. Many of the names repeat so frequently, it is difficult to sort through them.

This branch of your family may have arrived much sooner than you have been able to trace. According to records Jacob Myers of 1850 Armstrong County, PA was born in the US in 1802. The father living with his son Samuel in 1840 may have been foreign born and of course many of the wives may also have been foreign born.

The primary reason for mentioning this branch is due to the relocation of some members to NW Ohio_ a number of PA families, including the Barnharts, re-established themselves in Defiance, Nye and Williams counties.

Look for early settlement of the Myers family in Centre County, PA as well. In the late 1700's and early 1800's this area was key to the establishment of many families through land grants in lieu of payment for their service in the early days of the Militia.

Hope this provides some direction_

Regards,
Lee Davis
