From the research I have done I would assume that these are two different Myers families. I know according to my ggg-gradpa John Myer's obit it says his parents are Wilhelm Myers and Dorothy Christina Quasti and it says he was born on the ship on the way to America in 1847. It also says on all of his census records and those of his children that he was born at sea. I know Wilhelm died before Dorothy, but I don't know when either one died. If I could somehow locate the obit of Wilhelm or Dorothy they might be able to tell me more info. I know my ggg-grandpa John was in the Civil War and he was the last surviving veteran in Defiance, Ohio. He lived until 1942 and his obit is very detailed. I believe he was the only one of his family to leave the Armstrong area. As of now I have not been able to travel to Armstrong to check the death records or naturalization records or obits, which I'm sure will help out a lot.
