In tracing Cumberland Roots, one must search Bedford, Huntingdon, & Blair Counties
Blair County was Cumberland County in 1750. In 1771, it became Bedford County, Later, in 1787, Huntingdon County was formed from Bedford and finally Blair County was formed from Huntingdon and Bedford Counties in 1846. So in tracing one's roots, one must search all four counties, depending on the time period. One's family can be living in one spot for several hundred years and be picked up in all four counties. From Rae Barnhart, Corresponding Secretary of the Blair Historical Society (1984).
