I am posting this in case an Clair/Clapper/Ebbitt descendant sees this information.
I am a Clapper descendant, so I am related to the Clapper side of the family, specifically to Martha Clapper who was James Clair's first wife who died in childbirth. Martha and James did have a baby daughter and you do have Clapper/Clair relatives. Please see the note from cousin, Sue Sullivan, who is Richard Clair's g-grandaughter. She will be in touch with you when she returns home on Sunday.
Martha Clapper b. 1876 married James Clair. Martha died in childbirth c1907. Their daughter, Martha Mae married James Ebbitt.

I am Richard Clair's g-grandaughter. My mother was Clarissa's daughter who lived with Richard Clair and Susan when she was a little girl in Braddock, Pennsylvania.
Richard and Susan moved to Braddock about 1882.
