Bill--I am familiar with the Carson Valley cemetery. I am sorry I did not see your e-mail a long time ago, before your visit. The cemetery is about 6 miles south of Altoona, on the west side of U.S. 220, just northwest of the intersection with U.S. 22. In my family Bible, it is always referred to as the "Carson Valley Methodist Church", but I was always led to believe that it wasn't a traditional Methodist church, but might have been affiliated with the Christian Missionary Alliance. The church appears to be active. When I was a child, before they rebuilt U.S. 22, it was quite beautiful, but I am not sure the cemetery is being maintained very well anymore. The last time I was out there, about 5 years ago, it looked fairly sunbaked. Carson Valley is in Allegheny Township, near the area known as Seldom Seen. It is closer to Duncansville than it is to Altoona. I don't know what else you need to know. I think I have a copy of the original organizational documents for the church Sunday school. My grandfather seems to have been fairly active in the church. Let me know if I can help with other information.
