The 1850 US Census for Blair County is located on line at:

http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/blair/census/1850/

You'll need to know which township (or borough) Altoona was in back then as the census records are not indexed any finer than by townships. Here are the townships and the pages from the census that correspond:

Woodbury Township: 001A-027B
Tyrone Township: 028A-040B
Snyder Township: 041A-053B
North Woodbury Township: 054A-075B
Martinsburg Borough: 076A-081A
Hollidaysburg Borough: 082A-110B
Huston Township: 111A-124B
Catherine Township: 125A-135B
Greenfield Township: 136A-148A
Gaysport Borough: 149A-156A
Frankstown Township: 157A-174B
Juniata Township: 175A-195B
Blair Township: 196A-207B
Antis Township: 208A-237A
Allegheny Township: 238A-265B

Cheers... Bill Lynn
