Looking for possibilities regarding the origins of an Elizabeth Johnson, born in the area of Perkasie, Bucks County August 14, 1767, (birth date calculated from age at death in 1844). Elizabeth was "placed" with William Thomas of Northampton County PA, son of Richard Thomas and Elizabeth Walton of Hilltown, Bucks County. William lived on the Lizard Creek in now Carbon, then Northampton from about 1752 until 1776, when he joined with the British in the Revolutionary War. I understand that the original area encompassed under the Manor of Perkasie, (Perkesy etc.), included some land now parts of Hilltown, Rockhill and Northern Montgomery County. The Richard Thomas home was just north of Souderton, (Davis, History of Bucks County). So Elizabeth could have come from anywhere surrounding today's Perkasie. As usual things come full circle, a descendant of Elizabeth, my grandmother, married a Van Horn descendant in 1885. I understand that a Sarah Van Horn early married a Lawrence Johnson in Bucks county. There is no relationship between Elizabeth Johnson and this family I can ferret out but who knows. I understand that a Lawrence Johnson may have resided in the area in question in the period I am looking for. Also a Richard Johnson may have been in the area I am looking into in the same period. Anyone have information regarding these men? I appreciate any and all suggestions you might have. Judy Notify Administrator about this message?
