Wow, this is so helpful to me, Nancy! Previously I have focused all of my research time on Linn County, IA and Kansas because that is where my ancestors spent the majority of their time. I just started looking at Mauch Chunk so I know very little about it. I didn't know that it was a small community, nor did I know about the folks in Mauch Chunk being from Donegal, etc. Do you have any connection with The O'Briens? They are a few houses away from The O'Connors in Mauch Chunk and they became life long friends. In fact, The O'Briens currently care for some graves of The O'Connors to this day. Just wondered because that is a connection I learned about in the last year or so.
Thanks for the information on the message on the O'Connor board. I will check it out. I haven't spent any time on that board because there are SO many O'connors and I figure the chances of my being related to any of the ones on there are minimal. I'd better spend some time on there now!
Shannon
P.S. I was thinking about Donegal and Dublin. I know the O'Connors went from Glasgow to New York and likely left from Dublin. I bet they *were* from Letterkenny and went to Dublin on the way to the U.S.
