Hi,wondering if anyone has info on Captain John Foster/Forster, b about 1793, m Jane (no maiden name given)his family etc. His daughter is Mary Jane Foster b 05/01/1815, d 2/13/1874. Our family is related to the Barber family which his daughter married into. I have a portrait of him as well as one of three tables he made for his daughters, and are trying to contact anyone else who might have info on the family. We also have two letters from his great granddaughter Flora Barber to my grandmother. Excerpts: "1st Great Grandfather Forster 2nd Jane his daughter married to Robert B Barber 3rd Benjamin Newton their son married to Emma Smith 4th Flora and Robert and their children Robert married to Jane Massey their children 5th Elizabeth, Newton and Mina Elizabeth married Marvin Wickham, their children 6th Jane and Bruce and their children are the 7th. Great Grandfather was a merchant in Aaronsburg, Center(?) County and drove those big covered wagons with 4 or 6 horse to Philadelphia to get his good. The train did not go to center till I was 9 or 10 years of age. That was quite an event and we children used to wave to them. Of course the novelty wore off and we quit. The vases and dishes, the little glass plate all belonged to …(My?) grandmother Barber (Jane Forster). And she likely got them out of her fathers store. If there is anything more you want to know, I will answer if I can. With Love, Flora" Another letter details giving the table and portrait to my grandmother. So we'd like to find additional info.
