This may be the family you're looking for, so I'll include what little I've found in case there are some clues. Martha House was born 4-14-1754, the daughter of James house and wife Mary....James, b 4-17-1717 was the son of John House, resident in Birmingham by 1715, and a carpenter. I found James' will, but unfortunately it doesn't name all the children; (it does narrow down where the House family lived.....Kennett. Unfortunately, Johnson is a fairly common Chester name, and there are 40 or so in the 1765 Chester Archives. The early House folks were, I think, Quakers, but of course, if Martha married a non-Quaker she would have been disowned, and this might well have been noted in her meeting records. As her father lived in Kennet twp, and there was a Kennet meeting, perhaps you might get lucky and find her in those meeting records. (I have the Kennet marriage records, and there is nothing for Martha and Joseph through 1800. Pennsylvania Wills, 1682-1834 HOUSE, JAMES. Kennett. February 18, 1756. August 14, 1756. D. 50. To son Amos the plantation in Kennett purchased of William Andrew containing about 150 acres when 21. Plantation whereon I live s and that purchased of Daniel McPherson to be sold. Provides for wife Mary. Remainder equally divided among children when 21, none named. Executors: Wife Mary and brother in law John Chads.Letters to widow Mary, Chads renouncing.Wit: Joel Baily, Jr., Thomas Harlan. Notify Administrator about this message?
