I looked in THE HISTORY OF CHESTER COUNTY PA, by Futhey and Cope, and while there is a section on the Hickman family, starting with William, in the late 1600s, there is no mention of a William married to a Lydia....where did you find the info on them...birth dates, marriage, etc?....it's often a help to know where info came from, in knowing where to look.
You have the twp name wrong...it's Kennet, NOT Kenneth....there was no Kenneth twp, so don't go looking for folks from there...you won't get any results that way, looking in the wrong place. Every researcher born has done that one time or another, and discovered their error after many useless hours of looking in the wrong place!
William didn't leave a will, or admin. papers, unless he died in Mi. The only possible thing for a Wm Hickman pre 1890s (and it's not a will but a set of adm papers, indicating he died intestate, but with sufficient possessions to make it necessary for the court to evaluate them and decide on who got what)..
Wm Hickman Grand Haven Mi 1876 (file # 18163)
If you decide this could be 'your' Wm, you can order a set of these papers from Records and Archives, in Chester Co...they have a website which will tell you how to do so.
I checked, too, and the name Lydia Mercer or Hickman is not mentioned in any area wills...I was hoping to find her in the will of a parent, but nothing, I'm afraid.
