Newside burials Paxtang including John Montgomery

Presbyterians split into Old Side and New Side (or Old Light and New Light) about 1740 over the so-called "Great Awakening". In that part of original Lancaster Co which is now Dauphin Co, one would have favored the Rev John Roan of the New Side or the more conservative Rev John Elder of the Old Side, of Paxton. Roan primarily served Paxtang and Derry New Side supporters, but preached occasionally at Mount Joy which is now in Adams Co, PA, and known as Great Conewago [A History of the Presbyterian Church in America: From Its Origin Until the Year 1760, with Biographical Sketches of Its Early Ministers By Richard Webster. 1857.]

During the schism, roughly 1745 to 1775, some of the New-Side supporters from the Paxton congregation withdrew and met separately at a spot in Paxtang. When Roan died, in 1775, the New Side attempted to replace him with the Rev John Hogge, but the rev Elder succeeded in bringing and end to the rift and his congregation was rejoined by the New Side faction. By that time, most of the New Side fanaticism has died down and the two sides were able to worship together. The splinter group had acquired land for a burying ground.

A DAR marker was placed at the cemetery site: “This tablet marks the site of the Newside Churchyard given by Captain John Sherer to the congregation of which Rev. John Roan was Pastor. From 1745 to 1774." The earliest burial was in 1750 and the last in 1855. So the cemetery was still used long after the schism was resolved.

One John Montgomery was said to have been buried there, no dates, according to a marker erected by the DAR in 1924, no more info.

One John Montgomery and his son John contributed to Rev Roan. 1746 (old style 1745), Jan 11: John Mountgomery Sr began payments to the Rev John Roan. Payment made for him in Feb 1760 per his son Jno, 15 shillings. Last payment 21 June 1763 made for him per his son Wm. [Roan Account Book, 51]

1746 (old style 1745), Feb 17: John Montgomery Jr made first payment to the Rev John Roan. Last payment made 1 Sept 1760. [Roan Account Book, 76]

Are there any actual dates preserved? The marker has a list of 25 names, including John Montgomery, without dates. That was just a plaque, however, and I have not found whether there is data on the stones.
