Hi, Folks,
Sharing that an obit on the Fayette USGenWeb site hinted that branches of "my" HARTMAN family were living in WV. However, the end of the obit was missing but having the month and year (Jul 1938)allowed me to locate a complete copy. It begins:
MRS. MARY C. HARTMAN
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Catherine Hartman, 75, widow of Jacob G. Hartman, a Civil War veteran, were held Friday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Oliver Kessel, Ripley, with burial following in Maplewood cemetery, Elkins, W. Va.
The missing ending reads:
[Morgan]town; Mrs. Margaret Coffman, Charleston, and three sons, A. C. Hartman, C.C. Hartman, both of Buckhannon, and A. F. Hartman, Newark, N.J. Eighteen grandchildren also survive.
The WV Archives were a tremendous help in locating marriage and death information on the children as well as locating Jacob Gates Hartman's d.c. and that of Mary Catherine KENSINGER. Have located 16 of the 18 surviving grandchildren
