Hi Phil!
Yep. LOTS of patience. I have people swearing by all thats Holy that Rachel Halfhill(?) was the daughter of Samuel Halfhill, and have to point out to them that Ol Sam wasn't born til years after Rachel, according to THEIR records. People just add stuff on their trees without LOOKING at it, and checking dates. Unless my dates are wrong. We've checked and double checked. (see below) My hubby thinks Rachel was from Lancaster Co. I have a record that she and George were married in Fayette Co,6-26-1807, so had hoped someone had access to those records, and could see if any parents, or race was listed on that for her. I suspect she was a Wyandot, and no... Thats not a problem for us.
Her mom is commonly listed as "unknown Rowlier." Well, 'Rowlier' doesn't seem to be a name at all. Not that I can find, nor does it mean anything in French, so is not an occupation, (such as if her mother was "unknown dressmaker)." So, it's a spelling corruption at best. Might be looking at Rowley? Some such thing. But, she does seem to come with the name Halfhill. Unless she was married before she married George Shoemaker.
On Samuel, what dates do you have? I have Samuel b. 1790 in Cheshire. His dad: Mathais Halfhill(married Elizabeth Livingood) b.1770, Mathais dad: Dewalt Halfhill. Is it DeWalta?
Thanks!
Kathe
